Side by side
The eight countries where Virtustant has placed 60 or more professionals, compared on the one thing that actually changes by country: time zone. Every market goes through the same vetting, and the rate does not change by country; it is set by role and seniority, from $7/hr all-in.
Source: Virtustant placement records (2021 – September 2026), rounded down to the nearest ten. Ten further LATAM countries (Peru, Nicaragua, Panama, El Salvador, Venezuela, Bolivia, Chile, Uruguay, Paraguay, Dominican Republic) account for the remainder; together, LATAM is 90% of all placements.
How we decide where to recruit
Virtustant started in 2021 recruiting in the Philippines for US companies. It underperformed for reasons that had nothing to do with cost: a 12-to-16-hour time gap, a labor market shaped around call-center shifts rather than embedded roles, and buyer hesitation we heard directly on sales calls. Instead of picking the next market on instinct, the founders scored markets on three variables. The score ranked Argentina, Brazil and South Africa first, and the company was rebuilt around that answer.
Probability of strong English × retention rate × available candidate volume
Rate is deliberately not in the formula. Across our placements, hourly rate is set by role and seniority; country explains very little of it. Chasing the cheapest country tends to buy the shortest tenure.
English is tested live, in every country
Every candidate passes a live English screen, a cognitive assessment, a role-specific skills test and experience and reference verification. Only about 1 in 100 applicants clears the funnel, which is what “top 1%” means on this site.
Retention decides the country mix
A placement that lasts three years is worth more to you and to us than one that lasts three months. Countries stay in the mix because their professionals stay in the role, and the lifetime replacement guarantee applies in all of them.
Time zone is a scheduling decision, not a country decision
Argentina and Brazil run about four hours ahead of US Pacific: a 9am Pacific stand-up lands at 1pm in Buenos Aires and works; a 5pm Pacific retro lands at 9pm and does not. Mexico and Central America sit on Central or Mountain time. Tell us your meeting hours and we recruit where they fit.
Same process in every country
Whichever country the candidate is in, the mechanics are identical. You interview; Virtustant contracts, pays and supports the professional. No local entity, no employer-of-record subscription, no placement fee.

Beyond the Americas
Ninety percent of Virtustant placements are in Latin America because most US roles need live overlap. Two markets outside the region stay on the bench for the cases where overlap is not the priority.

Six to seven hours ahead of US Eastern, so a South African professional’s afternoon covers a US morning. Near-native English at an entry rate comparable to LATAM. Most used for sales, project management and admin roles where the first half of the US day matters most.

Twelve to thirteen hours ahead of US Eastern: a Manila day shift is a US night shift. Used deliberately for after-hours support, overnight admin and inbox coverage, not for roles that need to sit in your meetings. This is where Virtustant began in 2021, and why the country score exists.
Virtustant is a remote staffing agency founded in 2021 by Erik Reid and Kevin Wright, with US headquarters in St. Petersburg, Florida, and Argentine roots. Every figure on this page comes from the company’s own placement records or from publicly verifiable time-zone data. Nothing on this page is an estimate of another company’s data.

Hiring by country, answered
Virtustant places remote professionals from 18 Latin American countries: Argentina, Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Honduras, Ecuador, Guatemala, Peru, Nicaragua, Panama, El Salvador, Venezuela, Bolivia, Chile, Uruguay, Paraguay and the Dominican Republic. Latin America accounts for 90% of all placements since 2021. A smaller global bench covers South Africa and the Philippines.
It depends on the hours you need covered, not on price. Argentina is Virtustant’s largest market (430+ placements since 2021) and runs one to two hours ahead of US Eastern, as do Brazil (250+) and Uruguay. Colombia (180+), Peru, Ecuador and Panama match Eastern in winter and Central in summer. Mexico (290+), Costa Rica (140+) and the rest of Central America sit on Central time in winter and Mountain in summer. Every country goes through the same vetting funnel and the same pricing, so the practical answer is to start from your meeting hours and let recruiting source across the markets that fit.
No. Virtustant engages the professional in their own country and handles contracts, payroll and compliance. You pay one all-in hourly rate on one invoice and never open a foreign entity, register for local payroll or subscribe to an employer-of-record platform.
All 18. Colombia, Peru, Ecuador and Panama (UTC−5) match US Eastern in winter and Central in summer. Mexico City, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador and Nicaragua (UTC−6) match Central in winter and Mountain in summer. Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay and Paraguay (UTC−3) run one to two hours ahead of Eastern, which gives a full 8-hour overlap with a 9-to-5 Eastern day and about 5 hours with Pacific. None of these countries except Chile observe daylight saving time, so the gap shifts by one hour twice a year on the US side.
Not in any meaningful way. Virtustant’s rates start at $7/hr all-in, with a median of $8/hr across placements started in 2026, and the rate is set by the role and the candidate’s seniority. A bookkeeper in Argentina and a bookkeeper in Colombia with the same experience are quoted the same way. See the pricing page and the 2026 salary guide for rates by role.
Yes. You can restrict the search to one country or a time-zone band, or leave it open and let recruiting source across the region. Most clients specify the hours they need and the level of English, and let the country follow from that. Restricting to a single small market can lengthen the 48-hour shortlist window; we will tell you upfront if it does.
The same way everywhere: a live, recorded English conversation with a recruiter, not a self-reported level or a written test. It is the first stage of a four-stage funnel (live English screen, cognitive assessment, role-specific skills test, experience and reference verification) that roughly 1 in 100 applicants completes. You hear each shortlisted candidate’s English yourself before the interview.
Yes, and it is common. A typical team mixes a professional on US Central hours with one an hour ahead of Eastern, each sourced from whichever country fits that role best. Every professional is on the same contract model, the same weekly invoice and the same replacement guarantee, so a multi-country team does not add administrative work on your side.
Virtustant carries the contracting relationship with the professional, so local labor compliance is our responsibility, not yours. Working schedules, including which US or local holidays are observed, are agreed at onboarding and written into the arrangement; most professionals follow the client’s calendar.
For roles where live overlap is not the priority. South Africa (UTC+2) offers near-native English and covers a US morning from its afternoon; the Philippines (UTC+8) covers a US night shift from its day shift, which suits after-hours support and overnight inbox or admin coverage. Together they are under 10% of placements. Virtustant describes itself as a remote staffing agency with a LATAM-first, global bench.
The standard timeline applies to every country on this page: a shortlist of 3–5 vetted candidates within 48 hours of the discovery call, a signed offer in about 3 days (the 2026 median), and onboarding within 72 hours of acceptance. Very narrow searches, such as a niche role in one of the smaller markets, can take longer; we say so before you commit.
The same thing everywhere: if a placed professional leaves or is not working out, Virtustant recruits and places a replacement at no additional cost, with no time limit. The guarantee is attached to the placement, not to the country, so it applies identically whether your hire is in Buenos Aires, Mexico City or Cape Town.
A 20-minute discovery call: your role, your meeting hours, the English level you need. You get a shortlist of 3–5 vetted candidates within 48 hours, from $7/hr all-in, with zero placement fees.
