We started Virtustant because we needed it ourselves — and every staffing agency we tried was overpriced, opaque, or both.
In 2021, Erik Reid was running an eCommerce business he had built as a side project after leaving his job as a financial analyst. He needed a virtual assistant. Every service he tried felt the same: high placement fees, opaque markups, and no accountability after the hire.
He brought the problem to his brother-in-law, Kevin Wright, who had already built an international education business and knew the remote talent market firsthand. Instead of waiting for someone to fix staffing, they built the agency they couldn't find. As they put it in an interview with Authority Magazine: "Rather than waiting for someone else to solve the problem, we took action."
Virtustant was founded in 2021, headquartered in St. Petersburg, Florida — with its operational roots in Argentina, where much of our leadership and recruiting team is based.
