Remote.com Pricing in 2026: Every Plan, What an EOR Hire Costs in Latin America, and What a Hire That Ends at Month Six Costs

Remote (remote.com) lists its employer of record plan from $599 per employee per month, Contractor Management from $29, Contractor Management Plus from $99 and Contractor of Record from $325 per contractor per month, as listed on its pricing page on October 23, 2026. Its help center gives a second EOR figure, a "standard price" of $699 per employee per month billed pay-as-you-go, and on EOR the fee sits on top of salary and local employer contributions.
This guide lists every published plan and billing rule, applies Remote's own employer contribution rates for Latin America, and prices one hire per month, per year and if it ends at month six. Virtustant is a remote staffing agency and one of the routes compared, so we stick to published facts and show every calculation. Pricing Deel too? See Deel pricing.

Not published: an annual or committed EOR price, the tiers of its "monthly tiered pricing model", a combined employer cost for Mexico, and offboarding costs, which Remote says "are assessed on a case-by-case basis." Ask whether your quote uses $599 or $699: the gap is $1,200 a year per hire. And note that Remote.co is a different website; this guide covers remote.com.
Remote's help center adds rules that change the total. All read October 23, 2026:
Remote publishes employer contribution rates on its Country Explorer pages. The table applies them, plus the 13th-month pay each page describes, to an example gross salary of $1,500.00 a month (our input, not a Remote figure). Monthly total = salary × (1 + employer rate) + 13th-month accrual + fee.
| Country | Employer rate, per Remote | Year-end pay | Monthly at $599 | Monthly at $699 | First 12 months |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Costa Rica | 26.5% (sum of 10 listed lines) | One month's pay | $2,621.50 | $2,721.50 | $31,458.00 to $32,658.00 |
| Colombia | 29.848% to 36.2% (Remote's stated total) | One month's pay | $2,671.72 to $2,767.00 | $2,771.72 to $2,867.00 | $32,060.64 to $34,404.00 |
| Argentina | 26.4% (20.4% + 6%) | One month's pay | $2,620.00 | $2,720.00 | $31,440.00 to $32,640.00 |
| Brazil | 34.8% to 36.8% (sum of 4 listed lines) | 13th salary 8.33% + vacation bonus 2.77% | $2,787.50 to $2,817.50 | $2,887.50 to $2,917.50 | $33,450.00 to $35,010.00 |
Costa Rica at $599: $1,500.00 × 26.5% = $397.50, plus $1,500.00 salary, plus $125.00 for the aguinaldo ($1,500.00 ÷ 12), plus $599 = $2,621.50. The fee is 22.8% to 25.7% of the bill.
A fixed monthly fee weighs more on a part-time seat. Each price divided by hours worked:
| Remote plan | Published price | Unit | Per hour at 160 hours | Per hour at 80 hours | 12 months |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Contractor Management | $29 | contractor per month | $0.18 | $0.36 | $348 |
| Contractor Management Plus | $99 | contractor per month | $0.62 | $1.24 | $1,188 |
| Contractor of Record | $325 | contractor per month | $2.03 | $4.06 | $3,900 |
| Employer of Record (pricing page) | $599 | employee per month | $3.74 | $7.49 | $7,188 |
| Employer of Record (help center standard price) | $699 | employee per month | $4.37 | $8.74 | $8,388 |
On a 20-hour week, EOR adds $7.49 to $8.74 to every hour before pay. Part-time is common: of 51 client searches opened with Virtustant from October 7 to 14, 2026, 25 were part time and 48 asked for US working hours (breakdown). And moving from Contractor of Record to EOR adds $274 to $374 a month in fees before employer contributions.
Remote does not publish an annual price. If your Order Form priced annual credits at $599 a month (an example input), the year costs $7,188 up front, equal to 10.28 months at $699. Prepaying wins only above about 10.28 employee-months of use, and non-refundable credits from a hire that ends early must go to another hire.
Pricing pages show a hire that works. The Six-Month Miss Test asks: if this hire ends in month six, how much of what you paid bought nothing you keep? It rests on three published rules: fees are charged in full for any active month, a termination after the payroll cut-off adds a month, and exit costs follow the local law set out in Remote's country guide.
Miss cost = 6 or 7 monthly fees + statutory severance + notice paid in lieu. Inputs: the $1,500 example salary, daily pay of $50 (monthly ÷ 30, our assumption) and Remote's figures for six to twelve months of tenure.
| Line | Costa Rica | Colombia |
|---|---|---|
| Fees: 6 × $599 to 7 × $699 | $3,594.00 to $4,893.00 | $3,594.00 to $4,893.00 |
| Severance, per Remote | 14 days' pay: $700.00 | 30 days' salary in year one: $1,500.00 |
| Notice in lieu | 15 days: $750.00 | Not added (Remote lists 15 days only for poor-performance dismissal) |
| Miss cost | $5,044.00 to $6,343.00 | $5,094.00 to $6,393.00 |
| Six months of pay, contributions and 13th-month accrual | $12,135.00 | $12,436.32 to $13,008.00 |
| Miss cost as share of all spend | 29.4% to 34.3% | 26.3% to 36.5% |
Treat it as a floor: Remote's offboarding article also lists unused paid time off, 13th-month payments, legal fees and a termination service. On 30-day terms, a reserve of about $1,897.50 also waits with Remote until the exit settles. Then the search restarts, and on EOR the search is yours.
The rule. Multiply the miss cost by your honest odds that the hire ends inside a year. If the result tops one month of the seat's cost, price a route with a replacement guarantee and no fixed platform fee before you sign.
One seat, a full-time administrative or virtual assistant in US hours, priced five ways:
| Route | How you pay | Monthly cost | Who finds and vets | If it does not work out |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Remote EOR | Salary + employer contributions + $599 to $699 | $2,621.50 to $2,721.50 (Costa Rica, $1,500 salary) | You | Severance and notice; you search again |
| Remote Contractor Management | Contractor pay + $29 | $1,529 at $1,500 pay | You | You search again; classification is yours |
| Deel EOR | Salary + employer costs + from $599 | See Deel pricing | You | Local law applies; you search again |
| US in-house hire | BLS median $48,310 + benefits at 30% of compensation | $5,751.19 fully loaded | You | You search again |
| Virtustant | All-in hourly rate from $7/hr | $1,120 at 160 hours; H1 2026 median $10.10/hr (n=24), or $1,616 | Virtustant | Lifetime replacement guarantee |
Deel from its pricing page, read October 23, 2026 (models side by side: Virtustant vs Deel). The Virtustant median is from the 2026 Nearshore Rate Report (441 starts, January to June 2026).
Plainly: if you already have a contractor you trust, Remote Contractor Management at $1,529 a month costs less than our $1,616 virtual assistant median. The prices buy different things. On the $29 plan you found and vetted the person, the classification question is yours, and a departure means starting over. The agency rate includes search, vetting, replacement, and payroll and paperwork on the professional's side. See how to pay international contractors and Multiplier EOR pricing.
Remote is a weaker fit when you have not found the person, when the seat is part time, or when the Six-Month Miss Test tops a month of the seat's cost. For every model side by side, see how to hire remote workers and compare agencies.
Virtustant is a remote staffing agency. We recruit a dedicated, bilingual professional from Latin America who works your hours and is directed by you, at one all-in hourly rate. Starting rates: virtual assistants and customer service from $7/hr; SDRs, appointment setters, social media managers, designers and developers from $8/hr; executive assistants and bookkeepers from $8.50/hr. See pricing and the virtual assistant and executive assistant role pages.
Shortlist in 48 hours. Start in 72 hours. You get a shortlist of 3 to 5 vetted candidates within 48 hours of your first call, and your hire can start in 72 hours. The vetting funnel: 100% apply, 22% clear the recruiter screen, 9% pass cognitive (IQ), skills and English testing, 3% reach a live interview, 1% are hired, which is what we mean by the top 1%.
After the hire, your account manager is the main point of contact and coordinates onboarding, the start date, tools access and a first-week plan, then follows up during the first weeks. You direct the day-to-day work. Virtustant handles payroll, paperwork and everything administrative on the professional's side. Terms are month-to-month with zero placement fees, a lifetime replacement guarantee and one weekly invoice per placement. How Virtustant makes money: if you pay your agent $10/hr, we give them $9 and keep the dollar in the middle. Virtustant is rated 4.9/5 on G2 and 4.5/5 on Trustpilot.
Virtustant is not an EOR and does not act as the employer; if you need local employment with statutory benefits, use an EOR. On cost against a US hire: BLS May 2025 median pay for executive secretaries and executive administrative assistants is $76,590 a year, or $36.82 an hour. Thirty percent of that is $11.05, and the $8.50 executive assistant starting rate sits below it, which is why you can save up to 70% at the starting rate. Book a discovery call to price your role.
Remote's pricing page lists Employer of Record from $599 per employee per month, Contractor Management from $29, Contractor Management Plus from $99 and Contractor of Record from $325 per contractor per month, plus Global Payroll from $29 and US PEO from $99, as of October 23, 2026. All are "starting at" prices; on EOR you also pay salary and employer contributions.
The pricing page says EOR starts at $599 per employee per month. Remote's help center, updated March 11, 2026, gives a standard price of $699 per employee per month, billed monthly pay-as-you-go, with discounts possible on an Order Form. Ask which applies: the difference is $1,200 a year per hire.
Remote says there are no setup or onboarding fees and no standard deposit. A refundable reserve may apply, for example a one-month reserve if you move from 14-day to 30-day invoice terms, sized on gross salary plus mandatory employer costs. Contractor of Record also requires a reserve.
Contractor Management starts at $29 per contractor per month, charged only for contractors you actively work with that month. Contractor Management Plus starts at $99 and adds a $100,000 indemnity per contractor, up to $1M per company. Contractor of Record starts at $325, with Remote holding the contract.
No. Remote charges the full management fee if an employee is terminated before the end of the month, and a termination after the payroll cut-off, usually the 10th, adds the next month's fee. A hire who leaves in month six can cost six or seven monthly fees.
Remote sells EOR Credit Plans on Order Forms but does not publish an annual price. Plans are invoiced on acceptance, credits last 12 months and annual fees are non-refundable. At an example annual price of $599 a month, prepaying beats $699 monthly only above about 10.28 employee-months of use.
With Remote's own employer rates and an example $1,500 gross salary, a hire costs about $2,621.50 a month in Costa Rica at the $599 fee and $2,721.50 at $699, including 13th-month pay. Colombia runs about $2,671.72 to $2,867.00 and Argentina $2,620.00 to $2,720.00. Remote publishes no combined rate for Mexico.
When you have not found the person, the seat is part time, or the hire may not last a year. Through Virtustant, virtual assistants start at $7 an hour all-in, with month-to-month terms, zero placement fees and a lifetime replacement guarantee. Virtustant is not an EOR; for local employment with statutory benefits, an EOR fits better.
