Deel Pricing in 2026: Every Plan, What an EOR Hire Really Costs in Latin America, and the Salary Where an Agency Costs Less

Deel's published prices start at $49 per contractor per month, $325 per worker on its Contractor of Record plan and $599 per worker per month on its employer of record (EOR) plan, as listed on its pricing page on October 23, 2026. On EOR, that fee sits on top of the worker's salary and the local employer costs, which Deel itself estimates at 19.75% to 29.45% of salary in Mexico, 27.64% in Costa Rica, 28.35% in Argentina and 31.1% to 52.45% in Colombia. Every Deel price is labeled "starting at", so your quote can be higher.
This guide lists every published plan, adds Deel's own country cost estimates for Latin America, and works out two numbers no pricing page shows: how much of your monthly bill the fixed EOR fee represents, and the salary at which a remote staffing agency costs less. Virtustant is a remote staffing agency and one of the routes compared, so we stick to Deel's published figures and show every calculation. For the head-to-head on models, see Virtustant vs Deel.
| Deel plan | Published price | Billing unit | What it is for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Find talent | Starting at $14 | Per worker per month | Sourcing tools to find a worker |
| Hire contractors | Starting at $49 | Per contractor per month | Contracts and payments for an independent contractor you engage |
| Contractor of Record | Starting at $325 | Per contractor of record per month | Deel engages the contractor on your behalf |
| US PEO | Starting at $125 | Per US PEO employee per month | Co-employment for US hires |
| Employer of record (EOR) | Starting at $599 | Per EOR employee per month | Deel becomes the legal employer of your hire abroad |
Source: Deel pricing page, read October 23, 2026. The page labels the EOR plan "Most popular" and says pricing is month-to-month with no long-term commitment and that you can cancel at any time. It does not publish annual discounts, minimums, setup fees or offboarding fees.
Two caveats from the same page. First, for EOR the FAQ notes that local labor laws apply when you end a contract, including any required notice period or severance. Second, the PEO promotion running from July 15 to December 31, 2026 (three months of platform fees credited) requires an order form with a minimum two-year term and full repayment if you terminate early, which is not month-to-month.
Deel's help center (How much does Deel cost?, updated January 28, 2026) gives the billing rules:
What the $49 does not include: finding the person, vetting them, or replacing them. And on a plain contractor contract, classifying the worker correctly remains your responsibility.
This is the plan for buyers who do not want to hold the contractor relationship themselves. In Deel's words (Deel Contractor of Record announcement): "Deel hires contractors on your behalf, taking on all employment liability." You pay the contractor's rate plus the fee.
Deel becomes the legal employer in the worker's country, runs local payroll and benefits, and bills you for three things: the gross salary you set, the mandatory employer costs in that country, and the EOR fee. The next section puts numbers on the second item for four Latin American countries.
A sourcing add-on billed per worker per month. It helps you look; you still screen, interview and choose.
Deel publishes an "estimated employer cost" for each country on its hiring guides. These are Deel's own figures, read on October 23, 2026, and every country page lists the EOR fee as starting at $599 a month.
| Country | Deel's estimated employer cost (% of salary) | 13th-month rule, per Deel | Monthly total at a $1,500 gross salary (salary + employer cost + $599) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mexico | 19.75% to 29.45% | Year-end bonus of 15 days of wages after one year of service, pro-rated | $2,395.25 to $2,540.75 |
| Costa Rica | 27.64% | 13th-month salary paid in December; accrues at 8.33% of monthly salary | $2,513.60 |
| Argentina | 28.35% | 13th-month aguinaldo required by labor law | $2,524.25 |
| Colombia | 31.1% to 52.45% | Service bonus of one month's salary, paid 50% in June and 50% in December | $2,565.50 to $2,885.75 |
The arithmetic for Mexico at the low end: $1,500 × 19.75% = $296.25 in employer costs, plus the $1,500 salary, plus $599 = $2,395.25 a month. At the high end, $1,500 × 29.45% = $441.75, for $2,540.75.
Two things to confirm on your quote. Deel's country pages call these figures estimates and do not say whether the 13th-month payment is inside the percentage, so ask whether your quote includes it. And Deel notes for Mexico that profit sharing (PTU) is mandatory under Mexican labor law and that state payroll tax varies by state, so the exact figure depends on where your hire lives.
The EOR fee is fixed per person, so its weight depends on the salary. The Fixed Fee Share Test asks one question: what share of the monthly bill is the $599 fee? Using Deel's Mexico employer-cost range:
| Gross monthly salary | Monthly total (salary + 19.75% to 29.45% + $599) | EOR fee share of the bill |
|---|---|---|
| $1,000 | $1,796.50 to $1,893.50 | 31.6% to 33.3% |
| $3,000 | $4,191.50 to $4,482.50 | 13.4% to 14.3% |
| $6,000 | $7,784.00 to $8,366.00 | 7.2% to 7.7% |
At a $6,000 salary, the fee is about 7% of the bill and barely matters; Deel's EOR is built for that kind of hire. At a $1,000 salary, the fee is close to a third of everything you pay. The same pattern holds in Costa Rica, Argentina and Colombia because the fee does not change with the salary.
Part-time makes it sharper. The EOR fee is per worker per month, not per hour. On a 20-hour week (about 80 hours a month), $599 adds $7.49 to every hour worked; at 160 hours it adds $3.74. That matters because part-time seats are common: of 51 client searches opened with Virtustant from October 7 to 14, 2026, 25 were part time and 48 asked for US working hours (full breakdown here).
The rule. If the EOR fee is more than about 20% of your monthly bill, check a route that has no fixed per-person fee before you sign. At Deel's Mexico rates, the fee falls below 20% only above a gross salary of about $1,850 to $2,000 a month.
For a role like a virtual assistant, the useful comparison is the gross salary at which Deel EOR and a remote staffing agency cost the same per month. Solve salary × (1 + employer cost) + $599 = the agency's monthly bill.
We use two Virtustant reference points for a full-time virtual assistant at 160 hours: the $7/hr all-in starting rate ($1,120 a month), and the H1 2026 median. In Virtustant's H1 2026 placement data (441 starts, January to June 2026), the median client-side rate for a virtual assistant was $10.10/hr (n=24), or $1,616 a month at 160 hours (2026 Nearshore Rate Report).
| Country (Deel employer-cost estimate) | Break-even gross salary vs $1,120 (VA starting rate) | Break-even gross salary vs $1,616 (VA median, H1 2026) |
|---|---|---|
| Mexico | $402.47 to $435.07 | $785.63 to $849.27 |
| Costa Rica | $408.18 | $796.77 |
| Argentina | $405.92 | $792.36 |
| Colombia | $341.75 to $397.41 | $667.10 to $775.74 |
How to read it: if the gross monthly salary you would pay through Deel EOR in Mexico is above about $786 to $849, a Virtustant virtual assistant at the H1 2026 median costs less per month. Below it, Deel EOR costs less in cash. On Deel's contractor plan the line is much higher: $1,616 − $49 = $1,567 in contractor pay, or $1,291 on Contractor of Record.
The cash number is only half of it, because the routes do not buy the same thing:
If statutory local employment is a requirement for you, choose EOR. If what you need is a vetted person in the seat, the break-even salary tells you which route costs less.
| Your situation | Deel plan that fits | Monthly cost on top of pay |
|---|---|---|
| You found a freelancer for a defined project and are comfortable owning the contract | Hire contractors | From $49 |
| You found a long-term contractor and want Deel to hold the relationship and the liability | Contractor of Record | From $325 |
| You found the person and want them employed locally with statutory benefits | Employer of record | From $599, plus employer costs |
| You are hiring in the US and want co-employment | US PEO | From $125 |
| You have not found anyone yet | Find talent, or a recruiting route | From $14, plus your screening time |
Every row on that table assumes the same thing: you bring the worker. That is Deel's model. It runs contracts, payroll and employment for people you choose.
Deel is the right call more often than a staffing agency would like to admit:
Deel is a weaker fit when you have not found the person, when the role is part time, or when the salary is low enough that the fixed fee is a large share of the bill. For the full set of hiring models side by side, see how to hire remote workers and compare agencies. If you are weighing freelance networks instead, our Toptal pricing guide uses the same method.
Virtustant is a remote staffing agency. We recruit a dedicated, bilingual professional from Latin America who works your hours and is directed by you, at one all-in hourly rate. Starting rates: virtual assistants and customer service from $7/hr; SDRs, appointment setters, social media managers, designers and developers from $8/hr; executive assistants and bookkeepers from $8.50/hr. See pricing for every role and the rate report for the H1 2026 medians.
Shortlist in 48 hours. Start in 72 hours. You get a shortlist of 3 to 5 vetted candidates within 48 hours of your first call, and your hire can start in 72 hours. The vetting funnel: 100% apply, 22% clear the recruiter screen, 9% pass cognitive (IQ), skills and English testing, 3% reach a live interview, 1% are hired, which is what we mean by the top 1%.
After the hire, your account manager is the main point of contact and coordinates onboarding, the start date, tools access and a first-week plan, then follows up during the first weeks. You direct the day-to-day work. Virtustant handles payroll, paperwork and everything administrative on the professional's side. Terms are month-to-month with zero placement fees, a lifetime replacement guarantee and one weekly invoice per placement. How Virtustant makes money: if you pay your agent $10/hr, we give them $9 and keep the dollar in the middle. Virtustant is rated 4.9/5 on G2 and 4.5/5 on Trustpilot.

Deel's pricing page lists plans starting at $14 per worker per month for Find talent, $49 per contractor, $325 per Contractor of Record worker, $125 per US PEO employee and $599 per employer of record (EOR) employee, as of October 2026. All prices are "starting at" figures and are charged on top of what you pay the worker.
Deel's EOR plan starts at $599 per employee per month. On top of it you pay the gross salary and the local employer costs, which Deel estimates at 19.75% to 29.45% of salary in Mexico, 27.64% in Costa Rica, 28.35% in Argentina and 31.1% to 52.45% in Colombia. At a $1,500 salary in Mexico, the monthly total is about $2,395 to $2,541.
Yes. Deel says it does not charge contractors or employees a subscription and only charges the client, at $49 per active contractor contract per month, plus up to $5 for a contract that is active with no payments for two consecutive months.
On the $49 contractor plan, you hold the contract with the contractor and classification is your responsibility. On the $325 Contractor of Record plan, Deel says it hires contractors on your behalf, taking on all employment liability.
Deel's pricing page does not list setup or offboarding fees and says pricing is month-to-month with no long-term commitment. For EOR workers, local labor laws apply when you end a contract, including any notice period or severance. The PEO promotion running to December 31, 2026 requires a two-year term.
Because the $599 fee is fixed per person. Using Deel's Mexico estimates, it is about 32% to 33% of the monthly bill at a $1,000 salary and about 7% at $6,000. On a 20-hour week it adds about $7.49 to every hour worked.
When the salary is low enough that the fixed fee dominates. Against a Virtustant virtual assistant at the H1 2026 median of $10.10/hr ($1,616 a month at 160 hours), Deel EOR in Mexico costs more once the gross salary passes about $786 to $849 a month. The routes differ: EOR makes the worker a local employee of Deel, while Virtustant recruits, vets and replaces the professional and does not act as the employer.
Deel's core plans assume you bring the worker. Its Find talent add-on, from $14 per worker per month, provides sourcing tools, and you still screen, interview and choose. A remote staffing agency such as Virtustant recruits and vets the candidates and sends a shortlist of 3 to 5 within 48 hours of your first call.
